Affirm Press has hit reprint on another 10,000 copies of the highly anticipated thriller The Nowhere Child. The novel’s first BookScan results propelled it straight to the position of sixth-bestselling book in the country, hitting the bestseller lists for the majority of retailers including Booktopia, Big W, Dymocks, Readings and QBD.
The debut by Christian White looks set to follow in the footsteps of previous winners of the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for an Unpublished Manuscript, notably The Rosie Project and The Dry, which went on to sell hundreds of thousands.
Affirm Press CEO and Publishing Director Martin Hughes said he was excited and relieved to see it fly.
‘As confident as we were when we signed The Nowhere Child of the strength of the story and the talent of the author, publishing is never predictable – especially when it comes to debut fiction. We put our all into letting everyone know about this book, from startling a room full of Leading Edge buyers with actual live snakes, to having the entire Affirm Press team caught on national television wearing T-shirts asking, WHO TOOK SAMMY WENT? We couldn’t be happier with the way it’s turning out and thank all the nation’s booksellers for backing this debut. I’m sure Christian and The Nowhere Child will keep on repaying your early commitment, and that he will deliver you many more great books in the future.’
New stock will arrive on Friday 13 July. Booksellers running low on stock should reorder soon through ADS, via their Hachette representative, or directly through Affirm Press Sales & Marketing Director, Keiran Rogers.
