Affirm Press has acquired ANZ rights to big beautiful female theory by award-winning essayist, comics artist, critic and poet Eloise Grills, in a deal negotiated by Martin Shaw at Shaw Literary Agency. Grills’s first full-length book, big beautiful female theory is an illustrated collection of memoir-essays.
Martin Hughes, Affirm Press Publishing Director, said: ‘big beautiful female theory is a bolshy, raw, clever and hilarious take on the complex issues of body image, sexuality, diet culture, modern feminism, the construction/deconstruction of gender identity, and trauma. It’s unlike anything we’ve come across before.’
Martin Shaw said: ‘I’d been transfixed by Grills’ work for a number of years now, so it’s a great thrill to see this collection come into being, with some awesome endorsements already in from the likes of Ellena Savage and Bri Lee.’
Grills, who will deliver the completed manuscript early next year, said: ‘I’m just so excited to join Affirm Press to work on this book. They are a creatively engaged and supportive team that I’m thrilled to be working alongside!’
big beautiful female theory will be published in late 2021/early 2022.
